Judith was predeceased by her parents, Esther and George Segel of New Orleans. She is survived by her husband Jeremy Tarcher of Los Angeles, CA and three children, Lisa Paige, Mitchell and Michael Binder, six grandchildren and a nephew. She is also survived by her sister, Sarah Pailet of New Orleans.
She will be deeply missed by her family, numerous loving friends and admiring colleagues.
A memorial service will be held in Los Angeles, CA. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.∼Paige Mitchell was the pen name for Judith Paige Segel who wrote" Wilderness of Monkeys" in 1965 in Jackson, MS. At that time she was married to famous civil rights attorney Alvin Binder. The book was probably based on physicians in Vicksburg, MS, where it caused quite a stir. In 1965, Paige moved to Los Angeles to pursue her writing career and she divorced Alvin. She later married publisher Jeremy Tarcher with whom she was living when she died with cancer.
