Hull. Eleven enemy aircraft raided Hull. Six PMs and three IB clusters were dropped in the Holderness Road, Hedon Road, Alexandra Dock and Jennings Street areas. A P.M. was dropped on Ellis Terrace, Holderness Road, a thickly populate area, where a public shelter received a direct hit, all the occupants were killed (twenty-six of the fatalities occurred in Ellis Terrace and/or its public shelter) and a fire was started in Jennings Street. There was industrial, residential and railway damage. In this raid, the casualties were fifty-five killed and twenty seriously injured. Five hundred people in the vicinity were rendered homeless.
