Alice Arlene Kesling
April 23, 1931 - December 22, 2020
Alice was born in Trail Run OH, just outside of Cambridge to Emma & Everett Horton in 1931. She was the youngest of 3 children, with her sister Dortha and brother Albert. The family moved to Toledo OH in 1941 when Everett got a job working at Libbey Glass. She attended Stickney Elementary and Woodward HS graduating in 1949. In 1951 she married Jack Kesling. They moved to Northern Michigan on Black Lake in 1957 for 7 years where their first child (Todd) was born in 1961. Upon moving back to the Point Place-Shoreland area in 1964, they had a set of twins, (David and Donna). They settled in the Shoreland area where Alice proceeded to begin a very successful cake decorating business. She was known as “The Cake Lady” to her many friends and customers. After health issues forced her retirement, she and Jack travelled with their friends in the Zenobia Shrine all throughout the United States. They attended Messiah Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bowling, reading, spending time with her family, and was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers. She took her last breaths on this earth and her first breaths in Heaven with her Savior Jesus Christ, at home on December 22, 2020.
She was preceded in death by her Husband of 64 years Jack; her Mother and Father, Emma & Everett Horton; Brother and Sister-In-Law Albert and Kate Horton; Sister and Brother-In-Law Dortha and Ray Paben.
She is survived by her 3 children; Todd (Toni) Kesling of Columbus OH; Dave (Laurie Probert) Kesling of Shoreland; and Donna (Wayne) Heiden of Dundee MI. She has 8 Grandchildren, 4 Great-Grandchildren, and many Nieces and Nephews.
Because of COVID there will be no services. There will be a celebration of life at a later date this summer. Interment will be at Toledo Memorial Park. Arrangements have been entrusted to David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home.
