Born Campofranco, Caltanissetta, Sicily, Italy son of Carmela. His name in Italy and some records in America was Calogero. Charles married Anna Diliberto November 14, 1912. He came to America in 1907 and lived for a while in Philadelphia, then worked in the mines in Alabama. After he married Anna they owned a grocery store in north Birmingham. They had five children, Vincent, Carl, Eva, Lucile and Fr. Charles Joseph called Joe.
