Gladys Opal Holsworth, of Wellington, Kansas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Christmas morning, December 25, 2020 at the age of 78. She was born the daughter of Edward Lee and Viola (McCalip) Withrow on March 1, 1942 in Commanche County, Kansas. Gladys was 1 of 7 daughters born to the Withrow's. On July 25, 1960, she and Royal Holsworth were united in marriage in Wichita, Kansas. Their lives were blessed with 7 wonderful children. Gladys loved going on family camping trips and always looked forward to the annual stay at the Kansas State Fairgrounds. She and her husband were employed for many years together as custodians at Wellington High School and both retired in the mid-1990's. Gladys and Royal also supplied their family with a solid example of Christian living. She attended church at Pentecostal Holiness and Assemblies of God and was actively involved in ministry wherever she was at. Gladys was very proud of helping start the Missionettes ministry at the First Assembly of God. She also shared her musical gifts at church where she enjoyed singing and playing her trombone along side her other family members. Outside of church, Gladys enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society, Sweet Adelines as well as helping start the TOPS group in Wellington. Above all, she loved being a mother and grandmother to her precious family.
Survivors include her children: Rhonda Bush and husband Bill, Melinda Holsworth, Kyle Holsworth and wife Tracie all of Wellington, Kansas, Trina Jackson and husband James of Sedalia, Missouri and Quinta Arebalo and husband Mike of Wellington, Kansas, grandchildren: Aaron Bush and wife Veronica, Josh Arebalo, Heidi Jackson and Jake Jackson and wife Renee, great-grandchildren: Persephone, Zoe, Phoebe, Lydia and Sophie Bush, Alize Arebalo and Sophie Rains and Jenelle Marie Jackson, sisters: Frances Watkins of Hutchinson, Kansas, Viola Swaffer and husband Bill of Haysville, Kansas, Chris Wahl of Wichita, Kansas, Joyce Burden of Wellington, Kansas and Kathy Dugan of Wichita, Kansas along with a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughters, Stella Ann Holsworth and Gwendolyn Reeser.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2020 with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. If attending, please adhere to the current public gathering guidelines by wearing a face mask when attending.
Funeral services for Gladys will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the Wellington Free Will Baptist Church, 802 West 16th Street, Wellington, Kansas.
A private interment will follow at a later date in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, Kansas.
