John "Jay" D Komendo,71, passed away Thursday December 24,2020 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Indianapolis, IN, to John Komendo and Edna Marie Cubert Komendo on October 17,1949. John was a loving and caring person who touched many lives. After graduation from Southport High School he joined the U S Navy and worked in electronics. He was a retired over the road truck driver and was a member of the Brookville Road Community Church. He was married to and survived by Pam Atherton Sitter and is survived by daughter Tammy Wills husband Jerry, son James Komendo wife Erica, step-son Mike Sitter wife Kelli, granddaughter Stephanie Mallette, granddaughter Holly Ferguson husband Kameron, grandson Justin Komendo (Heather), grandson Dannie Komendo and sister Pamela Smith. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, six step-grand children and twenty one step- great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by parents a step-son Lou Sitter and great grandson Jacob Ferguson. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Family will receive friends from 9 AM-11 a.m. on January 2,2021, and Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. at the Brookville Road Community Church 7480 W US 52 Highway, New Palestine, IN 46163. Family has requested Memorials be given to the church. Due to the covid -19 mask will be required.
