Nell Muse Ahrens, age 89 passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020, at her home in Charleston, MS. She was born on February 15, 1931, to the late James and Eloise Muse in Jackson, MS.
The family will hold a Graveside Service on Sunday, January 3, 2020 beginning 2:00 p.m. at Charleston City Cemetery.
Nell was a longtime resident of Charleston. She worked as a nurse at Tallahatchie General Hospital and Charleston Clinic. She retired from the East Tallahatchie School system as a school nurse after more than thirty years of service. She loved cooking, reading, and traveling. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Charleston.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandy Duren (Charles) and Amy McBrayer of Charleston, MS; Alisa West (Kelly) of Oxford, MS; eight grandchildren, Jason Duren, Brittany Meyer, Trey Ahrens, Ellen Provine, Seth McBrayer, Katie Pearson, Emalee West & Abigail West and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Norris Ahrens, and son Walter "Scooter: Ahrens Jr.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Charleston or The National Veterans Foundation.
