She was born June 25, 1927, in Osage City, Kansas to Alvin Wesley and Vernie Hazel (Haws) Bishop

She spent most of her childhood in Cordell, Oklahoma, moving to Winslow, Arkansas in 1943.

She attended her junior and senior school years in Winslow, graduating as Valedictorian in 1945.

Following graduation she was employed by Bell Telephone in Fayetteville, Arkansas for several years.

She was a "stay at home" Mom until 1964 when she returned to work for Standard Register Company for ten years. While at Standard Register Company, she was active in the Razorback Federal Credit Union, serving as Secretary of the Credit Committee and a Member of the Board.

Jackie was active in the Winslow Methodist Church. She served as youth Sunday School teacher, choir member, and other various capacities throughout the years.
