Mr. Henry Travis Abel, 63, resident of Duck Hill, died Monday, May 4, 1992 at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. He was the husband of Mrs. Roxie Pittman Abel.
Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 6 at Garner-Harper Funeral Home Chapel in Grenada with the Revs. Johnny Hutchison and Norris Cor-ley officiating. Burial followed in the Duck Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Abel was a graduate of Duck Hill High School and a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a Masters in School Administration, a Masters in Business Administration, a Masters in Guidance and Counseling and a special degree in School Administration.
A native of Duck Hill, Mr. Abel was a former school teacher, principal and Superintendent of Education. He was a former plant controller, a member of the DAV, the Lions Club, Duck Hill Baptist Church and a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Roxie Pittman Abel of Duck Hill; two daughters, Kaye Abel Herring of Jackson and Tuddy Abel Ryan of Piano, Texas; his brother, Cecil W. Abel, Sr. of Mooreville; his sister, Mrs. Jean Abel Peets of Vicksburg; and a grandson, Chip Abel Herring of Jackson.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Duck Hill Baptist Church.
Garner-Harper Funeral Home in Grenada was in charge of arrangements.
