CIVIL LEADER DIES:
Civil leader Mrs. Nellie M. Beckman 84 of 818 W 7th St., died at 10:50 p.m. Monday night at St. John's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was an active member of the Central Christian Church where she was a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship and Music Committee. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Research Club and the Kensington Club. A former member of Anderson School Board she also served as a board member of the Hillcrest Christian Home in Park Place and a former deputy clerk in the Madison County Superior Court.
A native of Madison County she was the daughter of Arthur S. and Margaret Bronnenberg Hughel. Surviving are the husband Arthur, local attorney and chairman of the board of Anderson Federal Savings and Loan Association, a daughter Mrs. Emmett (Eleanor) Parker of Indianapolis, one son Charles J. Beckman of Chevy Chase, M.D. and five grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Central Christian Church with the Rev. Monroe Schuster officiating. Burial will take place in Chesterfield at the Bronnenberg Cemetery. Friends may call at the Harold E. Rozelle Funeral Home from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to funeral services.
