Marian A. Hoeppner (Musial)

Manitowoc - Marian A. Hoeppner (Musial), 90, a lifelong resident of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday afternoon, December 20th, 2020, at her home.

She attended St. Mary's Catholic School and Lincoln High School in Manitowoc. On December 2nd, 1950 she married Paul D. Hoeppner at St. Mary's Church in Manitowoc, at the age of 19, and the two spent the next 34 years together until his unexpected passing in July of 1984. Paul and Marian had two children, Gary Hoeppner of Manitowoc, and the late JaneMarie Kabat (Hoeppner), formerly of Manitowoc. Marian spent the last 55 years in the same house where she and Paul made their home and where she raised her two children. She worked several different jobs over those decades, while maintaining her household, including positions at Aluminum Specialty Company, Santa's Best, and Holy Family Memorial Hospital, from which she retired following a tenure of 14 years. Mother, grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, sibling, neighbor, friend - whoever Marian was for you, she loved you intensely, and would go to extraordinary lengths to help you if you were in need. She loved to crochet, do crossword puzzles, work in her yard, and bake - the last of which she continued to do with some assistance up until the final months of her life. She was well-known for her loaves of banana-nut bread, distributing them to just about everyone she came into contact with. The family suspects that you might notice thinner squirrels and chipmunks on the South side of Manitowoc this coming year, as Marian won't be around to feed them any longer. She was an avid lover of all animals, and took great pleasure in feeding the ones that came to visit her - most of all those bushy-tailed rodents. She also kept many pets over the course of her lifetime, both cats and dogs, and at one point a chameleon.

Survivors include her aforementioned son, Gary Hoeppner (Janet Cook); grandchildren Christine Hoeppner (Todd Wallen), Jordan Kabat (Katharine Casey), Kaelle Hoeppner, and Megken Hoeppner, all of Manitowoc; nieces and nephews, Rosie Musial (the late Bruce Musial), Green Bay, Dennis and Mary Ann Musial, Manitowoc, Todd and Mary Jo Musial, Green Bay, Stan and Lynn Musial, Newton, Sheila and Jack Wanek, Manitowoc, Ronald and Rosalie Musial, Greenbrier, Arkansas, Nancy and Kit Carter, California, Audrey Schaller (the late Kenny Schaller), Janice Taubenheim (the late Ronald Taubenheim), and Joyce Vreeke (the late Richard Vreeke), of Sheboygan, and dearest of friends, David Schauer, Beverly and Susan Baugniet of Manitowoc, and Peggy Sampson of East Sussex, England, among so many others whose lives Marian touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Julia Musial (Schultz), her brother Erwin Musial and sister-in-law Generva Musial (Messman), formerly of Manitowoc, her sister Alice Musial formerly of Manitowoc, sister Lucille Rabinovitz and brother-in-law Morris Rabinovitz of Sheboygan, brother Florian Musial and sister-in-law Lucille (Mandel) of Greenbrier Arkansas, and her beloved daughter, JaneMarie.

We, the family, would like to extend our gratitude to the nurses of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their incredible service over the previous year, particularly Carriann, Jessica, Rachel, and Elizabeth with whom Marian formed a special bond, and also to David Schauer, who went above and beyond anything we could have ever asked of someone to help Gary and the rest of us realize Marian's wish of remaining in her home until the very end.

Services will be held in Manitowoc at Saint Francis of Assisi Parish on Marshall on Saturday January 9th at 11:00am, with a visitation open to the public beginning one hour prior. Burial will follow directly thereafter at Evergreen Cemetery. Donations in Marian's memory may be made to the seminarian fund of the Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Green Bay.
