Death of Robert Byers.
Robert Byers died of pneumonia Monday at the home of his sister, Miss Lizzie Byers, near Parnassus, aged about 55 years. He was buried Tuesday at Union Presbyterian church, Rev. Mr. Plowden, the pastor, conducting the services. Mr. Byers was a brave confederate soldier, a member of the 5th Virginia and lost an arm in battle. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, and a good citizen. He and his wife resided for a few years in Staunton. He is survived by his wife, an estimable lady, by his sister, Miss Lizzie, and by two brothers, Charles B. Byers of Staunton and James Byers of Eastern Virginia.
