Charles Fenner Goldsborough, 93, a Baltimore native, passed on to be with the Lord on December 19th, 2020, at his home in Gaylord, Michigan. His devoted wife of 27 years, Joann Linaburg Goldsborough, was by his side.

He was born in Baltimore, April 16th, 1927, the son of Philips Lee Goldsborough, Jr. and Eveline Fenner Goldsborough. He and his two siblings, Philips Lee Goldsborough, III and Nancy Goldsborough Winkler, who predeceased him, spent their childhood in Roland Park. "Fenner" as he was known graduated from Gilman School in 1945. He then went on to serve his country in the Navy during WWII. Upon his return he attended the University of Virginia. He was a gifted athlete, playing lacrosse and tennis, and teaching tennis well into his later years. Fenner was a talented salesperson, owned an insurance agency for many years, and authored a book entitled Super Scam.

In 1950 he married the mother of his children, Elizabeth Watmough of Ruxton, Maryland. Together they raised their three children on Caves Road where Fenner went to great lengths to create an environment of fun, sports, and activities on their property for his family, friends and neighbors to enjoy. Activities included baseball, lacrosse, basketball, football, swimming, billiards and tennis played on a court he built himself employing child labor (his own). A loving, generous man with a wonderful sense of humor, Fenner will be missed by many.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Joann; his three children, William Goldsborough (Deborah) of Gaylord, Michigan, Brice Goldsborough (Denise) of South Burlington, Vermont, and Jean Goldsborough (Annie Rubright) of Reading, Vermont; four grandsons, Jeremy, Jay, Curtis, and Wesley; ten great-grandchildren; his step-daughter, Suzanne Housner; five nieces and one nephew.

A memorial service will take place on January 7th, 2021, at Grace Baptist Church in Gaylord, Michigan. Military honors will follow the service. In lieu of flowers those who wish are asked to consider a memorial contribution to Grace Baptist Church. Please share your memories and personal messages with the family at:
