He was a retired engineer from C&O Railway, a Navy veteran of World War II, a member and local commander of Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578, Madison, a past state commander of the VFW and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.
He is survived by: his wife, Kay; son, John Bennett of Foster; daughters, Connie Napier of Cleveland, Ga., Karen Baldwin of Madison; mother, Ocie Bennett of Madison; seven grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with the Rev. Thomas McDowell and VFW State Chaplin Guy Waugh officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison, with military graveside rites provided by Daniel Boone VFW Post 5578, Madison.
