Obituary
Died, near Freeport, Dec. 2, 1888, of scarlet fever, Katie, aged 9 years, only daughter of John and Matilda Dirks. Her remains were interred at the Lawson cemetery by the side of ther two brothers who preceded her but two short years. The loved ones will miss the dear one, but we sorrow not as those that have no hope, for it was the loving hand of the Father that took her from us. Though we could not call her back, may we not prepare to meet her on that peaceful shore.
Farewell, dear one, thou hast left us,
And our loss we deeply feel.
But 'tis God that hath bereft us,
Who can all our sorrows heal.
