Bryse Wayne Vanderwood, age 34, of Grand Rapids, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Monday, January 4, 2021 while surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Kernen; grandfather, John "Mike" Henderson. Bryse leaves behind and will be deeply missed by his wife, Melissa Vanderwood, son, Grayson Vanderwood, father, Steven Vanderwood, brothers, Shane Vanderwood, Robert Kernen, Jacob Kernen, Gavin Vanderwood; grandmother, Hazel Henderson; parents-in-law, Richard and Carol Mitsdarfer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Julie Mitsdarfer; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Bryse worked as a die designer for Trademark Die & Engineering. He loved the outdoors; especially when he was able to spend time fishing and riding his dirt bike. He enjoyed cooking and could fix anything around the house. He tinkered with projects, cars and loved woodworking. People will certainly miss his unforgettable laugh. Above all, Bryse loved being a dad and enjoyed his time with Grayson no matter whether it was wrestling, playing hockey or video games – he will be deeply missed. A funeral service will be held at St. Jude Parish (1120 4 Mile NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525) at a future date.
