Duane P. Olson

Manitowoc - Duane P. Olson, age 74, of Manitowoc, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family with assistance from Holy Family Hospice.

Duane was born on December 22, 1946 in Cheboygan, MI, son of the late Harry W. and Audrey H. (Peterson) Olson. His family moved to AZ where Duane received his education from 2nd grade through college. Duane graduated from ASU and then completed his theological studies at Dallas Theological Seminary.

Duane married the former Jane D. Norberg in Sioux Falls, SD on August 7, 1970. To their family three children were born, Gretchen, Peter, and Annelise. From 1976 to 2010 Duane, Jane and the family served as missionaries with Greater Europe Mission in Denmark and in Portugal. Upon returning to the States in 2010, Duane served as Pastor of Adult Ministries at Faith Church.

In retirement he was involved as a volunteer at Holy Family Hospital, taught a Bible study at the Senior Center, and was a tutor in the literacy program at the library. Duane passed on to his family his love for the Lord and His Word, and his love of coffee, fishing, and reading.

Duane is survived by his wife, Jane; his children - Gretchen (Nathan) Wright, Peter (Laurel) Olson, and Annelise Olson; his grandchildren - Jonah and Caleb Olson, Dylan and Emma Wright; his brother Tim Olson and sister Susan Olson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law - Glenn and Katherine Mella, John and Naomi Massa, Jim and Sue Norberg, nieces and nephew - Jim (Stacey) Massa, Jenny (Dan) Boyle, Margaret (Louie) Mejia, and Angie (Jared) Fluth.

Private family memorial service will be held. You may view the service on our Facebook page, Lakeshore Family Funeral Homes on Friday, January 8, 2021 starting at 10:45 AM. Tom Swanson will officiate with entombment of his cremated remains at the Columbarium in Evergreen Cemetery. The memorial gifts for Duane will be given to the Portuguese Bible Institute where Duane taught for 28 years.
