Marie was born in Two Rivers on December 15, 1933 to Charles and Adala (Hesser) Schmieder. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Spring Academy of Fond du Lac in 1952. Marie was an only child, and always dreamed of having a large family. Her dream became reality after she married Gordon Blaha on May 29th, 1954 at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Two Rivers. Together, the couple had seven children, fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Gordon preceded her in death on December 3, 1985. Marie had a fulfilling life on the farm because of her love of animals, especially her cats. She was a longtime member of St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church in Tisch Mills and member of their Rosary Society. She enjoyed painting, repainting the Nativity Statues at the parish and painted black and white photos into color photos.
Survivors include four sons and two daughters-in-law: Victor (Nancy) Blaha, Charles Blaha and Bill Blaha, all of Two Creeks; Michael (Diane) Blaha of Manitowoc; three daughters and sons-in-law: Veronica (Paul) Williamson of Appleton, Betty (Darryl) Holschbach of Two Rivers, and Mary Ann (Kevin) Koch of Tisch Mills; fifteen grandchildren: Stacy Pierce, Stephanie (John) Carter, Adam (Cassy) Blaha, Tyler (Amanda) Blaha, Erin (Terry) Timm, Sarah (Tyler) Goranson, Rachel (Tyler) Raduenz, Kelly (James) Ferry, Zachary and Amelia Holschbach, Gregory and Keith Koch, Paul (Sarah) Blaha, Troy Blaha, Nicole (Darion) Smaxwell; and nineteen great-grandchildren: Emma, Jack and Millie Pierce, Noah, Jonah, Eli and Ezra Blaha, Martin and Melanie Blaha, Owen, Emmeline and Alec Timm, Elodie and Croix Goranson, Dylan and Levi Raduenz, Isla Blaha, Nikolai and Freya Smaxwell. She is further survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ray Selner, Violet Shedivy, Ruth Zeman, Jerry and Darcy Blaha, Lynn Blaha, Ken and Carol Blaha.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Adala Schmieder; husband, Gordon Blaha; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Victor and Mary Blaha; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Gladys (Leo) Swerbinski, Tom Clinton, Marian Selner, John Shedivy, Bob Zeman, and James Blaha.
Due to the current circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, a private funeral service will be held by Marie's family, with burial in St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church Cemetery, Tisch Mills.
