Husband of Mary Elizabeth (Lake) Sprague. Son of Abner and Margaret (Vincoia)Sprague
Byron S. Sprague died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. P. Peterson,Thursday,August 18, age of 89 years 10 months and 20 days.
Mr. Sprague was born in Pennsylvania Septermber 27,1837. He came to Sherman County,Kansas, in 1887 and lived here fro seventeen years. He then moved to Springfield,Mo., and ived there until 1921 when he again returned to Sherman County and made his home with his son until about three months ago when he moved to the home of his daughter where he lived up to the time of his death.
In early manhood Mr. Sprague became a minister of the gospel in the United Brethren church. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary E. Lake Jan. 1, 186 at Cassapolis,Mich. Three sons and six daughters were born to this union, one daughter preceeding him in death. Those left to mourn his death are L. M Sprague of Kanorado,Kas.,Mrs Ida Peterson and Mrs. Celia Cole of Ruleton,Kas.,Mrs. Loretta Allen,of San Diego,Cal.,Clarence Sprague of Phoenix,Ariz.,Mrs. Maggie Hockett of,Guymon,Okla., Mrs. Mary Coats of Clarion,Ia., and William Sprague of Bovina,Colo.,twenty-eight grandchildren, thiry-six great-grandchildren,and four sons-in-law and two daughters-in-law besides a host of friends.
Bishop Millard Engle conducted the funeral services which were held at the Peterson home,Saturday afternoon. Burial was made in the Goodland Cemetery.
