Orville R. Bailey, age 86, of Carthage, MO, passed away on Sunday January 10, 2021 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center, following an illness.

Orville was born on July 8, 1934 in Putnam, OK, the son of the late William A. and Lillian D. (Brown) Bailey. He was raised on a farm with twelve siblings. He has been a lifetime area resident. He served his country in the United States Army. He worked as the water superintendent for the city of Carl Junction, retiring in 1999. He had previously worked for Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery and did some carpenter work as well as farming. He was a member of the Church of The Nazarene in Carthage, MO. He enjoyed bird watching, gardening, flower gardening, reading, and 4-wheeling.

Orville married Glenda Matchell and was blessed with two children. He married Helen (Elrod) Satterlee on June 4, 1994 and adding the blessing of three additional children.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Helen Bailey, Carthage, MO; two sons, Cameron Bailey and wife Rose, Waco, TX, and Steve Satterlee and wife Jan, Bartlesville, OK; one daughter, Lisa Cowan and husband Matthew, Dallas, TX; a daughter-in law Sandra Satterlee, Carthage, MO; a son-in-law Gary Wallain, Anderson, MO; one brother, Lloyd Bailey and wife Margaret, Pittsburg, KS; three sisters, Helena Schmitz, Webb City, MO, Clara Insco, Dallas, TX, and Vi Hendrickson of Indiana; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
Orville was preceded in death by a son, Mike Satterlee on May 28, 2016; a daughter, Patricia Wallain on August 28, 2006; four brothers, Warren Bailey, LeRoy Bailey, Harold Bailey and Wayne Bailey; and four sisters, Wyona Myers, Evelyn McAuley, Eilene Savage, and Lois Graff.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Church of The Nazarene in Carthage, MO. Reverend Dustin Ledford will officiate. Burial will be in Lake Cemetery in Lamar, MO at 2:00 p.m. Thursday. For your safety and the safety of the family it is requested that everyone in attendance wear a mask and practice social distancing. Family and friends may view during our regular visiting hours on Tuesday and Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be given to Church of the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries In care of the mortuary.
