A retired man who had been
in ill health hanged himself in
an outbuilding at his home here
yesterday.
The death of Romie Howard
Hughart, 60, of 65 Garrison Ave.
has been ruled a suside by
Dr. Goff P. Lilly, Kanawha
County Coroner
Goff said Hughart apparently
hanged himself with a window
sash cord tied to a rafter in
the building.
Mr. Hughart worked 40 years;
for the West Virginia Water Co..
Ill health caused retirement two
years ago.
Mr. Hughart belonged to the
Baptist Church.
The body is at the Cunningham
Funeral Home. Services will be
held in the chapel there Wed-
nesday at 3 p.m. The Rev. Buster
Mellon will officiate. Burial will
be in the John Beane Cemetery
at Sissonville.
Surviving are the wife, Rushie Layne Hughart;
(12-28-1987)
a son, Earl Lee Hughart (11-10-
1927) of Charleston: two
daughters, Mrs. Coreen Arbutus
"Boots" Crank, (4-7-1929 6-6-
1969) and Mrs. Reba Delores Henson,
(7-6-1931 abt. 1979) of
Charleston; his father, William Hughart,
of Charleston; two brothers,
John and James Venton Hughart of Charleston;
five sisters. Mrs. Recia Hughart Young of
Tuppers Creek, and Mrs. Mary Hughart Walden, Mrs. Minnie Hughart Tate, Mrs
Irene Hughart Smalley and Mrs. Sadie Hughart Bratcher (Westfall) of Charleston.
