Rev. A.Q. Staples
BOURBONNAIS — The Rev. A.Q. Staples was born on September 17, 1927, in Crawford, Lowndes County Mississippi, to the union of Larkin and Louella Staples. He was educated in the Lowndes County Public Schools. He relocated to Kankakee, Illinois, where he made a life-long home. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and later accepted the call to the ministry.
On April 10, 1965, he joined in Holy Matrimony to the lovely Classie Randle. They were married for 46 years until her death in 2012. He was a long-time member of St. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, until he and Classie relocated to the Kankakee area and joined Zion Gate Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ronald Bartlett.
Rev. Staples was employed by Armstrong World Industries, where he retired after many years of service.
Rev. Staples went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at home surrounded by his family. He loved spending time with his family and catching up with old friends. After answering the call to ministry, he served the people of God through ministry until he departed this life. He will truly be missed for his friendship and great sense of humor.
Rev. Staples will be remembered by his Son, Rev. Barrion (Jennifer) Staples, daughter, Leona Wells, step-sons, William D. (Anna) Randle, Robert D. Randle, sister-in-law Eva Staple, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rev. Staples is also survived by a special granddaughter, Lataira Harris who has been by his side as his caregiver for the past 9 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his devoted wife Classie, two brothers, Jimmy Staples and Robert Staples, three sisters Beatrice Dunigan, and Magnolia Whitlow, Mary Williams.
