Adamo, Joseph Joseph Philip Adamo 3/19/1926 - 12/26/2020 Joe, to all that knew him, passed away at 94 years old succumbing to complications of the Covid virus.
He is survived by his son Robert (Karla) Adamo, daughter Gina (Don) Adamo Baker, granddaughters Lauren Adamo, Hannah Baker, Olivia Adamo and Ava Adamo. Also survived by his 96 year old loving sister Toni (Antoinette) Fischer and numerous nieces and nephews. He was born in Rome, New York, the youngest of 6 children to parents that migrated from Italy. He would go on to join the U.S. Army Air Corp and complete his training as an Aviation Cadet. He proudly graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Architectural Engineering. While attending, he took great pride in being the guy behind "Touchdown Tommy" the cannon he got to fire at the football games whenever they scored.
He was a proud member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity which he held office as President and Treasurer as well member of the campus Catholic Club. He was extremely proud of his Catholic faith and enjoyed being an alter boy in his youth. Joe was the pioneer of the family moving to California in the 1950's. He worked for years at North American Aviation as a structural engineer working with flight tests and rocket firing. After convincing the rest of his family to join him in California, the family business was established. His greatest achievement and passion was working along side his sisters and brothers in their family restaurant known as Adamo's Italian Cuisine in Anaheim, California. A very popular restaurant close to Angel Stadium and Disneyland, he had many stories to tell of celebrities and notable sports figures that would come to gather there. It was the success of that business allowing the brothers to combine their love of horse racing into a business breeding and racing thoroughbred horses. With many great horses, one of the biggest was the success of "Bold Joey", so rightfully named after him. Bold Joey won many championship stakes and was even a Kentucky Derby favorite before being injured weeks prior. Joe was an avid sports fan. In addition to horse racing, he would endlessly be watching baseball, football, basketball, golf... along with his love for watching game shows. He had a lifetime of amazing achievements. It was that "Bold"spirt and gentle kindness and love for his family that made him the man we loved and treasured. He left a mark on all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
