Janet is survived by her loving children and grandchildren: Desiree Fornell Miller [husband Dave] and their children, Tyler, Karl, Jack; Jamie Fornell Nelson [husband Paul] and their children, Brendan and Jill; her sister, Marilyn Melrose and brother, Stephen [wife Anne] Jones.
She enjoyed work as a spiritual director, walking with others on their life journeys, spending time with children, grandchildren and friends. She was honored to serve the congregations at OSLC Beloit, WI, Spirit of Joy, Marengo, IL, Bethany, Leland, IL and Our Saviour's, Naperville, IL.
Jan loved her family. One of her favorite things to do was to share her love of art with her grandchildren, taking them to the Art Institute in Chicago and then to lunch at Italian Village. Jan was known for being spunky, joyful, creative and fiercely independent. She was involved in her Glen Ellyn community, always up for an insightful conversation, a celebration or a way to help a friend. Many in Glen Ellyn had the chance to say hello to both her and Dalai, her Tibetian Spaniel, as they walked around town. Her friendships span the United States and her presence will be missed by all that knew her.
A private inurnment will be at Knox Cemetery in Rigdon, IN. A celebration of life will be held in the future as restrictions permit. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry or the Art Institute of Chicago. Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Naperville was entrusted with arrangements.
