AUGUSTA, Ga. - Joyce Ann Allen, 60, entered into rest Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at the Medical College of Georgia after an extended illness. She was born in Greenville, S.C. on January 1, 1947 to the late James Charles Davenport and Mozzle Riddle Davenport. She worked for Gracewood State School and Hospital for 27 years, where she served as a Health Service Technician and later as a Supervisor. For the past 12 years, she was a devoted member of South Augusta Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years, Walter Allen; and a brother, James C. Davenport, Jr. She is survived by her son, Walter O. Allen, Jr.; two daughters, Angela Porter and Debbie Whitaker (Joey Griffin), all of Augusta; her brother, Clifton Davenport of Hephzibah; and her best friend, Ora Lykins of Hephzibah; 11 grandchildren, Zack and Austin Allen, Chris, Erik, Jessica, Courtney, and Lisa Porter, Dwayne, Daniel, Sidney, and Andrew Whitaker; nephew, Tony (Kim) Baker of Augusta; niece, Jennifer (Chris) Fugher, of Japan; and nephew, James W. Davenport, Jr. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 11, 2007 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. and from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home, Hephzibah. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 12, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home, Hephzibah, with Rev. Mike McCormick and Evangelist Earl Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta. Pallbearers will be Tony Baker, Dwayne Whitaker II, Daniel Whitaker, Zack Allen, Chris Stephens, Robert "Bob" Murphy, Johnny Lykins, and Bryant Lofton. DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home, 2546 Ga. Hwy. 88, Hephzibah, Ga. 30815, (706-592-5000), is serving the Allen Family.
