A Biographical Sketch by Jennifer L. Neff, a fourth great granddaughter
Christiana "Barbara" Strohmauer Sanzenbacher was born in Germany on September 25, 1770 to Johann George and Eva Catharina {?} Strohmauer. Her father was a farmer. She married Gottlieb Sanzenbacher on February 22, 1791 in OberWeissach . It is believed she brought one or two children from a previous marriage to their marriage. Christiana and Gottlieb had ten children. Gottlieb died in Oberweissach, District of Backnang, Wüerttemberg, Germany on January 28, 1827 at the age of 62. By that time four of their children had already left Germany for the United States. In 1833 she came to the United States with her son, Jakob and his family. They arrived in New York on August 26, 1833 on the Ship Manchester. Her nephew, Johann George Sanzenbacher also brought his family on the same ship. They moved to Unity, Columbiana County, Ohio, until 1836, when they moved to Beaver County, now Lawrence County, Pennsylvania where they lived on a farm until returning to Unity. In 1839 her son Jakob was a leader in the founding of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Unity Township. Christina Barbara died on January 17, 1847 in Unity at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 22 days. She was buried at Koch Cemetery.

The only child unaccounted for is son Johann George who married Eva Rosina Hahn. George was born 12 Nov 1791 in Oberweissach; he married Eva Rosin Hahn 15 Apr 1821 in Huetensbach, Wuerttemberg, Germany; Eva Rosina Hahn Sanzenbacher was residing with son in law, Ernest Longhenny, in Cincinnati, OH in 1860.
