Cynthia Kay Criss, daughter of Kathleen Marie (Bassett) Langan, was born April 13, 1969, at Omaha, NE.

Cynthia was raised by her grandmother, Nelly Bassett.

She was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, NE, and later, was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, NE.

Cynthia attended Spalding Public School and graduated with the class of 1987. While in high school, she was involved in volleyball, basketball, track, and cheerleading. She also played the clarinet in the band.

Following high school, Cynthia attended college in Kearney, Hastings, and Columbus.

In December 1991, Cynthia married Jeffrey Criss and, to this union, three children were born: Justin Arthur, Paige Nicole, and Cortney Mae.

Cynthia was very involved in her children and grandchildren's lives. She enjoyed spending time with them and watching them grow. Cynthia enjoyed crocheting and took pride in making gifts for others.

Cynthia was a kind soul with a heart of gold. She was very strong in her faith and would do anything to help anyone. She always made the people around her feel right at home. It was apparent that she was put on earth to be a mother. She always put her children first and loved them with everything she had.

Cynthia is survived by her children, Justin (Karlie) Criss of Albion, Paige (Dustin) Schilousky of Cedar Rapids, and Cortney Criss of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Holden, Grayson, Oaklynn, Jude, Charles, Waylon, Sadie, Audrey, and another due to arrive in April 2021; parents, Mike and Kathy Langan of Cedar Rapids; aunts, Deanna Bassett of Ashland and Kay Scala of Arizona; siblings, Shawn Roberts, Shannon Molt, Joe Molt, Jolene Pfeifer, Michaela Langan, and Bob Langan; as well as many nieces and nephews.
