"Whitesboro - Edward F. Herthum Sr., 78, died unexpectedly at his home on the Judd Road, Town of Whitestown, Feb. 9, 1943. Born in Steuben, son of Andrew and Margaret Deitel Herthum, he came with his parents to Oriskany. He resided in Oriskany and when he grew to manhood operated the land known as the Mayor Gaynor farm. He married Lena E. Hofmeister, Oriskany, Nov. 26, 1902. He was a member of the Waterbury Memorial Presbyterian Church. Besides his wife he is survived by four sons, George W., Whitesboro; Edward F. Jr., Rome; Staff Sergeant John H.. Goldsboro, N. C., and Carl W., at RPI, Troy; three daughters, Eleanor E. and Sophia M., at home, and Florence M., Lockport; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Bueche, Utica; a niece, Mrs. James Longway. The funeral will be held at the home at 2 p. m. tomorrow, with the Rev. Walter I. Eaton officiating. Burial will be in Oriskany Cemetery."
