Rebecca Lake Fuller Trask died on January 21. She was born on October 4, 1928 in Florence, South Carolina and is the daughter of the late J. Anthony and Rebecca Lake Fuller. She was married to Neil Webster Trask, Jr for 68 years until his death in December 2018. She was a member of The Parish Church of St. Helena. Becky attended Florence High School where she graduated with honors in 1945. She earned a BS in Business from the University of South Carolina in 1949 again, graduating with honors. Following graduation, she worked as a copy writer for Melvin Purvis' WOLS radio station in Florence before her marriage and move to Beaufort. In Beaufort she became very active in church and civic affairs. In 1955 she became a member of First Presbyterian Church with her family. There she taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, served as president of the Presbyterian Women, Circle chairman and flower chairman. Becky was a honorary life member of The Presbyterian Women. She was a founder of and delivered Meals on Wheels until 2015. Among her civic activities, she served as treasurer of the Crippled Children's Society, and was a member of and later Vice President of the Governor's Beautification and Community Improvement Committee from 1977 until 1985. Becky was active on various community boards including Historic Beaufort Foundation, Beaufort Beautification, Trash and Litter Control, Beaufort Memorial Hospital Foundation, The City of Beaufort Parks and Trees Committee and The Development Advisory Committee. She was a longtime member of the Beaufort County Libraries Board of Trustees, also serving as chairman. She operated The Lending Room for more then 30 years and proudly was a member of Clover Club and Beaufort Female Benevolent Society. Becky was proud to be awarded the Hettie Rickett Leadership award in 1977 for outstanding leadership and community building skills. Other awards include the La Sertoma Woman of the Year, The Rotary Bowl and The Exchange Club Good Deed Award. Becky is survived by her sons, Neil W. Trask, III and his wife Donna of Myrtle Beach, Joseph L. Trask, Sr and his wife Sally of Davidson, NC and Robert P. Trask and his wife, Kim of Beaufort. She is predeceased by her son, Anthony (Tone) F. Trask. She has seven grandchildren; Benjamin F. Trask, Rebecca Trask Haynes, Rachel L. Trask, J. Lake Trask, Jr. Kimberlie R. Trask, Hartley E. Trask and Denis N. Trask and three great grandchildren; Liam Haynes, James Gravenstein and Hadley Trask. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the graveside funeral service will be private for immediate family only at The Baptist Church of Beaufort on Monday, January 25. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Beaufort Memorial Hospital Foundation or The Lending Room of Beaufort.
