PEORIA -- Cleo M. Harlan, 79, of Springfield, formerly of Peoria, died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 1996, at his [her] home.

Born April 5, 1916, in [Medina Twp] Peoria to Fred and Mary Pollack Garland, she married Clyde L. Harlan on Oct. 14, 1932. He died May 26, 1990. One grandchild also preceded her in death.

Surviving are three sisters, Thelma Stenger of Peoria, Hazel Frisbie of Emmetsburg, Iowa, and Vesta Appleby of Clearwater, Fla.; one brother, Roland Garland of Peoria; three daughters, Faye Kitsch of Springfield, Mrs. Jack (Irene) Ashbaugh of Effingham and Joyce Carlile of Pana; 11 grandchildren; several great- grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was clerk for the Illinois Department of Public Aid. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Springfield.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Staab Funeral Home in Springfield. The Rev. Sharon Colbert will officiate. Visitation will be two hours before services at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Prospect Cemetery in Dunlap.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Memorial Medical Center Foundation in Springfield or her church.
