Donald F. Abel of Park Ridge, Ill., and Lake Geneva, Wis., formerly of Riverside, Ill., beloved husband of Sigried; fond father of Robert B. and the late Lt. Donald Abel; dear grandfather of Donald and Vittrice Abel. Resting at funeral home, 120 S. Northwest highway, Park Ridge, where services will be held Monday, Aug. 6, at 1:30 p.m. Interment Oakridge cemetery. In lieu of flowers kindly make donations to the Donald Abel Memorial Heart fund, care of Marion Shanahan, City National bank, Chicago. TAlcott 3-1223. Services for Donald F. Abel, 57, of 4 1/2 Greenwood street, Park Ridge, founder and first president of the Illinois Junior Chamber of Commerce, will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow in the chapel at 120 Northwest hwy., Park Ridge. He died Friday. Mr. Abel, owner of the Abel pathological laboratories at 7 W. Madison street, was a former president of the Chicago Junior Association Commerce and former executive vice president of the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce. He also founded the Illinois Association of Clinical Laboratories. Surviving are his widow, Sigried; a son Robert B., and two grandchildren.

Biography:
Donald grew up on Austin Boulevard in Chicago as an only child. He enlisted in the Air Force during The Great War and was transferred to the tank corps sometime after receiving Pre-Flight training in Texas. He was discharged from the tank corps by Dwight D. Eisenhower and never saw combat. He then attended the University of Chicago and received a Bachelors of Science. He also taught part-time at the University of Chicago. He was an excellent public speaker and was the President of the Chicago Junior Chamber of Commerce, but withdrew from running for the position as president of the National Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was interested in history and was very knowledgeable in Egyptian history. Just prior to his death in 1956, he travelled to Egypt and participated in an archeological dig at the Aswan Dam.
