Sept 1995:
Hazel Flemming Harwood mentions day of Fritzie's death in her diary. Fritzie died when his French teacher turned on the gas to kill herself. A terrible thing to have happened. Hazel writes that Fritzie was buried in Port Washington beside his Grandma. This must have been Anthony's mother as she is buried in Port Washington also.(Martha (Mattie Pearce Baker)

Carol Stannard Mullen remembers her sister Diane saying that Fritzie was at boarding school when the suicide occurred.

Some notes from Marjorie's letter to her brother Anthony on April 6, 1972 ~ She called him "A" and he was in the midst of writing his memoir at this time.

"Pictures and tapes arrived safe n sound - Wow what a tremendous job - it's just marvelous - terrific impressions a certain little boy had - one so seldom realizes how much does impress a child - how certain memories are thrown out and others retained by children. Hard to realize our brains retain so much and some by the heart too. "

"We both think it (Anthony's Memoir) should be published. It's not only story for the family but a human interest with wonderful feeling. After all not too many had experiences we did. That was an age when people stayed put."

"Loved your research history at beginning. I'd forgot the knickers that always one leg fell down when the buckle was not too well fastened. The starched Pomeroy collar and flowing bow tie. Did you have button on drawers - buttoned on the garter belt. What did men wear? Were they cotton longies in summer & heavier in winter?

"the park episode was in Brooklyn when Mama worked as pianist in a dept store where sheet music was sold and also she had an art job of sorts at time to support us after separation of Mama & Papa- never a divorce"

"By the way we went to Adirondacks with mama Pearce in Spring 1913. School that winter with Snow & log jam was about Mar Apr - when ice flow came up around house. Uncle Jim took us in row boat over Bridge - short way to school - so we could get to school when Garnet wagons could not come up from North Creek and pick us up for school."

"It was Manhasset Bay where all the wealthiest from New York came to boat. Remember JP Morgans house boat & some ones yacht the "Bar - Bar - A" Grandpa called it . JP Also had an immense yacht - gold faucets etc - all of glorious furnishings - took to Europe and Islands. It just so happens to still exist. What good times we had at the Club! Remember or were you in Little Neck - my diving in a diving contest 4th of July at the club from one of the Pillings of the dock dove right thru my suit - I was daring - girls had come out of those sailor bathing suits to wear big boys one piece with skirt. It had long arm holes - I sewed mine up to be decent for Grandpa - swam ashore - someone brought out raincoat - but I had won - what a laugh that was. What a tomboy I was - Remember my beating another Billy Beck, I guess under big apple tree foot of Decker ? Hill - because he picked on you. I sure wasn't going to let you have decent fight - that was last one I spoiled - Did you tackle me? Of not. I don't recall - 5th Ave sure was our play ground. "

"Mama died June 21st, 1914 four days after my birthday June 17. I had just turned 9 - you became 8 that August when at Grandmas that same summer. We wee eight & nine 1st yrs at Port Wash School house. It was 1913 Spring we went in by train from Port taking up most of the car - took 2 cabs to Grand Cent.
