Mr. Lynch was born about 1803-1810 (records vary) in county Cavan, Ireland. According to his obituary, he came to the US about 1835, returned to Ireland in 1839, married Rose Caffrey there, and came back to the US in 1845. They appear in the 1850 Census for Mauch Chunk, Pa., which showed that their first two children, Patrick and John, were born in Ireland; later children were born in Pennsylvania. About 1862, they moved to Wilkes-Barre. These were their known children: Patrick F., John, Rosanna, Edward A., Michael, Ellen (Lynch) Clark, Mary, and James.
NOTE: In 1878, St. Mary's parishioners were buried at the Catholic Cemetery (now overgrown) on Darling Street, between St. Nicholas and B'nai Jacob Cemeteries. In 1881, the current St. Mary's Cemetery opened in Hanover. Some of the burials were transferred to the new location, but it is not clear from the records whether Patrick's was among them. I have entered his memorial as being at the current St. Mary's Cemetery because his wife's burial was there.
