He worked at the family business Madden Portable Building since his early childhood. He is remembered as a giver and helper, who had a heart as big as a mountain and enough love inside for everyone, especially children and his family. He was a real competitor at heart, liked the outdoors and in the last year spent a lot of time and worked at the farm near Lexington. Mr. Madden's father, Roy, died of cancer 11 years ago on Richard's birthday. It was a day he struggled with and continued to everyday since. "It gives us much peace to know they are together once again," a family member said. Family members say Mr. Madden's passing has left a void in their hearts that will never be filled. He will be missed by his family, friends, and everyone whom his life touched. Mr. Madden always held his childhood memories with all of them ever present in his heart.

Mr. Madden was preceded in death by his father Roy and both sets of grandparents, Lemual and Ruby Madden and Ben and Lou Ellen Reynolds.

Mr. Madden is survived by his daughter Kylee Jordon Madden of Pauls Valley; mother Clo Ellen Madden of Norman; sister Wendy and husband Mauricio Maruri of Norman; brother Johnny Joe Madden of Norman; grandchildren Mason William and Tanner Bay; and nephews Joshua, Sebastian and Benjamin.

Labor Day crash kills City man
Shawnee Oklahoma News Star.com

A Labor Day accident killed an Oklahoma City man on Interstate 40 near Kickapoo Street early Monday morning.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Will Arnett reported the fatal crash occurred about 6 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-40, near mile marker 185.5.

Richard Wade Madden, 37, died from massive injuries he suffered in the crash, the OHP said.

Madden was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger pickup, the OHP said, when his vehicle went off the roadway to the left for unknown reasons.

His pickup hit a guard rail end, then traveled an additional 188 feet, rolling two times, the OHP report said.

Madden, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected about 101 feet from the point of rest, Arnett's report said.

Shawnee firefighters and REACT EMS medics responded to the scene. Madden was transported by Medi Flight helicopter ambulance to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he was pronounced dead from massive injuries, the OHP said.

Pottawatomie County sheriff's deputies assisted Arnett at the scene, along with troopers from the OHP special operations division and the Oklahoma County detachment.

The driver's condition at the time of the crash was not known, the report said.
