Thomas J. Hilyard of 328 Riverside Drive died in Bixby Hospital after a short illness August 24, 1956. He was the son of Edward and Emma Hilyard. Born December 31, 1884.
He was married to Lelah Henry December 14, 1910 and was a resident of Adrian 25 years. He worked 22 years at the Girls Training School and at the time of his death, he was a watchman at Sperti Faraday Corp.
Besides his widow Lelah, he is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Ruth Koons, Mrs. Marvel White, Mrs. Florence Baumea and Mrs. Izola White, all of Adrian; Mrs. Helen Toering of Detroit and Mrs. Ethel Kuhn of Manitou Beach; three sons, Earl and Harold of Adrian; Harvey of Ogden Center; two sisters, Mrs. Stella Baum and Mrs. Chalcy Campbell, both of Uniontown, Ohio; 30 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Harvey and Chalmer and a half brother, Edward and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Everiss Funeral Home. Burial in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park. The Rev. Albert Raloff officiated.
