Florence Virginia Abbott, 75, of Springfield died at 4:10 p.m. Thursday at Dirksen House. She was born in Staunton, the daughter of Richard V. and Helen Stiff MacDonald.
She was preceded in death by one brother Robert MacDonald.
Mrs. Abbott was employed at Copley News Service prior to her marriage. She helped run a family-owned business until 1968. She was a member of Southern View Chapel. She was a Girl Scout troop leader for many years and served as treasurer for the Illinois Diabetic Association.
Surviving are her husband Louis E.; one son, David E. of Springfield; one daughter, Mrs. Paul D. (Sharon) Whitcomb of Elmhurst; two brothers, Louis MacDonald of New York, N.Y., and Floyd MacDonald of Winimac, Ind.; and three grandchildren.
Services: Southern View Chapel, the Rev. Edward Hellyer officiating.
