Gilfred “Gil” S. Greggain, age 86, of Minerva, died Monday, May 30, 2011 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 30, 1924 in Wolfe, Saskatchewan, Canada to Gilfred D. and Mattie V. (Goddard) Greggain. He retired from Cornwell formerly Mac Tools in Vallejo, CA, was the district manager for the Metropolitan Life Ins. Co in California and had worked for the Canadian Pacific Airlines. He is a member of the New Vine Baptist Church in Malvern, and had formerly been a member of the Royal Canadian Navy, the Vallejo Lion’s Club and had volunteered at the Douglas Senior Center. Gil enjoyed writing poetry and was proud to have had numerous pieces published.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Mary “Flo” Greggain who died in 2005 and a sister, Norma Greggain.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Bonnie (Richard) Sustich of Vacaville, CA and Susan Greggain of Minerva; a son, Gilfred G. (Lil) Greggain of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, two sisters and a brother; Joyce Frizzel and Evy (Harold) Porter and Larry (Viola) Greggain all of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, 6 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held Thursday June 9 at 7pm in the New Vine Baptist Church in Malvern with Pastor Steve Gilreath and Chaplain James Scalf officiating. The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice for all of their comfort and care.
