Rev. J. J. McKinley
Robert McKinley, of Dallas, Texas, came up to attend the funeral of his father.
Another Good Man Gone ~ By a brother in Christ ~ Rev. J. J. McKinley was born on the third day of August, 1837, in Providence, Webster County, Kentucky, and died July 31, 1913, in Rush Springs, Oklahoma.
He was the third son of seven children born to John and Mary KcKinley.
He married Elizabeth Imboden near Providence, Kentucky, May 1, 1858, and by this union nine children were born ~ five girls and four boys.
The mother and children still survive him.
Bro. McKinley was converted and joined the Methodist Church when about twenty years of age.
At the age of forty he felt a call to the ministry and was licensed to preach, which he did until his health failed him.
He was confined close to his house for several years until the good Lord relieved him of his suffering by calling him up higher.
Bro. McKinley moved from Kentucky to Texas, where he lived awhile, thence to Oklahoma, where he has resided ever since.
He was an affectionate husband, a kind father, a good citizen and neighbor.
He loved his church and all Christian people, and while his health permitted he always attended services of the church.
To his good wife and loving relatives we say, don't sorrow after him as one who has no hope, for we are sure we know where we can find him.
Funeral services were held by the pastor of the M. E. C. S. at his home in Rush Springs.
Text, Num. 13-10: "Let me die the death of the righteous and let my last be like his."
There was a large crowd at the services and still larger followed his remains to the cemetery.
Another good man gone but our loss is heaven's gain.
