JENNINGS, SAMUEL KENNEDY, preacher, was born June 6, 1771, in Essex county, N. J. He moved to Baltimore in 1817; was one of the prime movers in the introduction of lay representation in the conferences of the methodist episcopal church, and finally was expelled from this connection and organized a new body known as the methodist protestant church. He was distinguished as a pulpit orator and evangelist. He died Oct. 19, 1854, in Baltimore, Md.
