On Saturday, August 28, 2021, James Lafayette "Jim" Austin, loving husband and father of three children, passed away at the age of 79.


Jim was born January 23, 1942 in Blytheville, Arkansas, to Conley Fay and Virginia Lee Austin.


Jim graduated from Blytheville High School in 1960. He attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas.


For over thirty years he worked in the steel engineering industry. He was an avid private pilot, member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and a longtime member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring 129. He enjoyed playing the piano and traveling. Jim was a very social man who met no strangers. He was known for his kind ways and will be remembered for his compassion to always lend a helping hand to those who needed one.


Jim was preceded in death by his father, Conley Fay Austin; his mother, Virginia Lee McCormick Austin; brothers, Edward Lee Austin and Nathaniel Fay Austin.


He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Austin; his three children, James Nathan Austin, Michael Lee Austin and Jennifer Lynn Austin; three grandchildren, Jessica, Ryan and Aaron, and three great-grandchildren, Danika, Claire and Bryce.


A funeral service will be held Friday, September 3, 2021, at Cobb Funeral Home in Blytheville, Arkansas at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
