Mostly known as a stage actress; she also wrote & co-directed the 1915 silent film "The Fairy and The Waif," starring Mary Miles Minter. She appeared on stage in productions by Lester Wallack, David Belasco and her husband Gustave "Gus" Frohman, and is best remembered for her performances in the plays "The Witch" and "May Blossom."

After she retired from acting, she wrote plays and film scenarios under the name "Louis de Coucy."

She died at her home in Bronxville, NY, survived by a brother and two sons.
