Death of Mrs. Sarah A. Ackley
Westmoreland Jan 8 – Mrs. Sarah A. Ackley, passed away Monday morning, Jan. 7, at the home of her son-in-law, George W. Clinch, after an illness of three weeks.
Sarah Ann Valentine was born June 19, 1837, in Renesselaer County, N.Y., moving with her parents to Lewis County in early childhood. October 16, 1853, she married David Burr, moving shortly, after to the David Burr farm near Lowell, living in this vicinity for about seventy years.
Mr. Burr died in 1871. On this union, one son was born, Charles D. Burr, who died in 1889.
November 18, 1874, Mrs. Burr married J. D. Ackley, who died May 5, 1902. Of this union, a daughter, Ada J., was born, who became the wife of G. W. Clinch, and who died Sept. 7, 1922.
Mrs. Ackley lived in Vernon for about two and one-half years, but for nearly nineteen years has made her home with her son-in-law, G. W. clinch.
At the age of 24, Mrs. Ackley joined the M. E. Church.
Mrs. Ackley had a cheerful, loving disposition and made many friends. She was a sincere faithful Christian.
Mrs. Ackley leaves her son-in-law, G. W. Clinch and two grandchildren, Estella M. Clinch and Raymond G. Clinch, besides numerous other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at G. W. Clinch's Thursday afternoon, Jan. 10, at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in Lowell Cemetery.
