Dorothy Elizabeth Blessing Bartholomew, age 86, passed away on Sunday morning 24th of January. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Cloyd 'Bart' Bartholomew of Meadeville, PA; her parents: Clarence Curtis and Willda Marie Blessing of Letart, W VA; her brother and his wife, Charles William and Dorothy Elizabeth Blessing also of Letart; her brother-in-law, Reverend George Weirick of Ravenvswood, W VA; and niece, Angela Blessing of W VA.
She is survived by her children: Susan Leigh Bartholomew Davis of Roanoke, VA and Joseph Curtis Bartholomew of Ferrum; as well as her older sister, Evelyn Mae Blessing Weirick of Ravenswood, W VA; and her younger sister, Peggy Roberta Rogers and her husband William 'Bill' Rogers of Vienna, W VA; with multiple nieces and nephews.
After graduating Wahama H S, Dorothy left home to attend business college in Kansas City and received her degree. She started her professional life at Lake Central Airlines in Indianapolis, Indiana where she worked some 15+ years until relocating to Virginia.
In Indiana she married Cloyd 'Bart' Bartholomew and both of their children were born there. The family relocated to Arlington, VA in 1968.
Dorothy worked for Piedmont Airlines and the County School Board, moved on to Defense Information Systems Agency retiring in 1994. She continued working part time another 10 years for the United Way. In 2012 Dorothy made her last move to Ferrum, Va to be close to her children.
She will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful and selfless Mother, Wife, Daughter, Sister, Aunt and loyal Friend to the many who knew her.
Her steadfast unfailing Faith in the Glory of our Lord Jesus Christ made the world a better place. She was a blessing to us all and will be sorely missed! Bye Bye Dottie, we love you.
