She was born Lillie Jane Kopp, June 4, 1936, in Du Quoin, IL to Gladys and George Kopp of Elkville, IL. She graduated Elkville High School Class of 1954 then went to work at the Jackson County Courthouse.
Jane married Dennis Morefield, April 21, 1956 in her hometown. They would move to Redding, CA in 1959 when Dennis joined the John P. Scripps Newspaper Group. They were married 55 years when Dennis passed, September 17, 2011.
When Dennis was named Editor in Chief of the Enterprise Sun & News in December 1969, Jane moved their two sons to the newly incorporated Simi Valley. There, Jane and Dennis were prominent in the young city's civic scene from 1970-1976 as before moving to Decatur, IL. Jane was team mom and official scorekeeper while Dennis managed Little League with the boys.
In 1977, Jane settled the family in Agoura Hills after Dennis's career brought them back to California for good. There, she began a 20-year career with the State Farm Insurance Regional Headquarters in Westlake Village. She remained in her Agoura home for 43 years.
Jane was a bowler, avid Pinochle player and became a master-level Club Bridge player for over 50 years. She took up oil painting at age 54 becoming a prolific painter and artist. Jane and Dennis were active members of the Church of the Hills in Agoura before moving to Conejo Valley Christian Church (now Limitless Church of Thousand Oaks).
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother George Howard Kopp. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Faye Ann (Kopp) and Rev. Jerry Aken of Elkville, IL son and daughter-in-law Brian and Lori Morefield of Newbury Park, CA, son and daughter-in-law Bart and Joy Morefield of Roseville, CA and her grandchildren Hilary Morefield of Ventura, CA, Aaron Morefield of Newbury Park, CA, Alan Morefield of Irvine, CA and Riley Morefield of Roseville, CA.
