NOVEMBER 12, 1933 – FEBRUARY 5, 2021

Obituary of Carrie N. Wood
Carrie Almeda Null Wood passed from this life on Friday, February 5, 2021.

Carrie was born to John and Cora Malone Null on November 12, 1933, in Choctaw County, Mississippi. After graduating from Ackerman High School, she moved to Washington DC and worked for the federal government. Soon after, she married Johnnie, her high school sweetheart, and move to Jackson, Mississippi, and later they settled in Pearl, where they resided on the same corner for over 55 years. During her career, Carrie was employed by the Mississippi State Vocational Rehabilitation Service and Mississippi Methodist Rehabilitation Center, where she was Executive Secretary for the Director. In 1976, her peers elected her President of the Mississippi Association of Education Secretaries (MAES). In 1984, she joined the family business, Johnnie Wood Heating & Cooling Contractors, as co-owner and manager. Among many of her community activities she participated in, Carrie was a Co-Founder of Pearl day and in 1986, she was chosen as Woman of the Year for the City of Pearl.

Carrie lived for her Christian faith, her family, her community and the improvement and well-being of those whom she encountered. Her Christian beliefs were her foundation. She had a missionary’s dedication, a servant’s heart, and the Christian hope that one person could make the world a better place. It was to this eternal hope which she endeavored her throughout her entire life.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Johnnie Wood.

She is survived by her sons Craig Wood, Mike Wood and James (Jim) Null, all of Brandon; daughters Kathy Wood DuVall of Pearl and Cheryl (Sheri) Wood Albert of Brandon; along with thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great- great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, February 8, 2021, at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
