Arthur Clarence Anderson, 94, died June 12, 2002 in Elim Nursing Home, Fargo.
Art was the first child of Ole Theolie and Anne Lee (Lein) Anderson of rural Portland, ND, born Jan. 6, 1908. He grew up and attended school in the Portland area. Art entered the Army in 1940 and served as a sergeant in the Pacific Campaign during WWII and received a Purple Heart for his service. He married Adeline (Swenson) Melby April 21, 1948, in Moorhead, MN. He began working for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company at the Garrison and Oahe dam projects. In 1960 he accepted a position as tire maintenance superintendent with the Nello L. Teer Construction Company of Durham, NC. Art held this position until his retirement in 1979. He moved to Fargo in 1994.
Art was a member of Gilbert C. Grafton Post #2 of Fargo.
Graveside service June 17, 2002, at Little Forks Cemetery Rural Portland, ND. He is survived by his wife, Adeline, Fargo; son, Arthur .
