Raymond Lee Meis, died February 5, 2021, he was born March 22, 1932, at home to parents Leo and Seraphine (Stocklein) Meis of Ness City the farmhouse was located 4.5 miles west and 1.5 miles south of Ness City, he was the fourth child born in a two-room house.

Ray graduated from Ness City High School class of 1950, he went into the Air Force in 1951, after basic training he was stationed in Naknek, Alaska, after serving his four years he was discharged in 1955 at March Air Force Base in CA.

Ray secured employment with Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent Technology in CA. Eventually, Ray met Vivian Hatle, they were married on September 9, 1957, at Sacred Heart Church in Ness City. Ray and Vivian established residence in Riverside, CA of the union came Thomas Michael Meis in 1964 and Tamara Meis in 1969. Unfortunately, that marriage ended in 1973.

Ray took early retirement from Lucent Technology and started building a beautiful home in Romoland, CA, he then started collecting antique tractors, restoring them to their original condition, this would become a passion for Ray. In all Ray accumulated a full set of Farmall tractors and a full set of styled John Deer tractors that he would take to antique tractor shows.

While attending a show in Vista, CA he met Sandy Malone and after a five-year courtship, they married on January 1, 1998, in Tombstone, AZ, the town too tough to die. Ray and Sandy enjoyed going to tractor shows, farming, waltzes, dancing the polka, and two-step country-western music. Ray's favorite polka band was The Country Dutchman. Ray was really happy when he was out on the road traveling, especially in the motor home.

Ray is survived by his wife of 23 years Sandy Meis, son Thomas Michael (Tamber) Meis; daughter Tamara (Jeremy) Kerns; stepdaughter Michelle Malone, two granddaughters Briana (Jim) Bobrik and Madisyn Kerns; grandson Jake Covin; two step-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, Addison Bobrik; brothers Melvin Meis, Ness City, Donald (Carole) Meis, Mt. Pleasant, SC, Gerald Meis, Orangevale, CA, and Arlin Meis, Boulder, CO; sisters Julie (Boyd) Beutler, Ness City, Dianne Klaus, Ness City, and Delores (Don) Mussatto, Windsor, CA.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Seraphine Meis; sisters Mary Alice and Cyrilla Srenzel; brother Cecil, Dennis, and Willard Meis.

Interment will take place at WaKeeney Veterans Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in warmer weather.
