Atwood - Mrs. Alice E. Atwood, 81, 509 N. Warner Ave., died Saturday in Golden Acres Nursing Home at St. Louis, Mich., following a lingering illness. Born July 19, 1882, in Bay County, she was a lifelong county resident and was a member of Wesleyan Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons, William L., Kawkawlin, and Berchard H., Midland; two daughters, Mrs. Virgil (Alberta) Walz, of Florida, and Mrs. Betty Ebel, Libya, Africa; 17 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wesleyan Methodist Church, the Rev. Robert Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The body will at Gephart Funeral Home after 4 p.m. today and until noon Tuesday, when it will be taken to the church to lie in state.
