Mr. Steve Abel, age 70, of Union Mills, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, February 06, 2021 at Mission Hospital-McDowell in Marion, North Carolina. The son of the late Carlton and Elizabeth Farrington Abel, he was born in Troy, New York on June 30, 1950.



A member of Story Memorial Presbyterian Church in Marion, Steve worked as a Registered Radiologic Technologist at McDowell Hospital for some years and retired from Rutherford Regional Hospital. He enjoyed camping and traveling from coast to coast with his family. Steve was a veteran of the United States Navy.



Mr. Abel is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Evangeline Abel; two sons, Regan Abel and Benjamin Abel; three grandchildren, Nikolai Abel, Kyndal Sheree Abel and Kacyn Gunner Abel; three sisters, Celia Abel, Barbara Abel Ritter and Marjorie Abel; and numerous nieces and nephews.



A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service in Marion with Rev. Ed Olson officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.



Interment will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, North Carolina
