James Edward Kauphusman

James Edward Kauphusman, 74, of 668 E. Sarnia St., Winona, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at his home. He was born March 7, 1930, in Winona to Edward C. and Valeria (Czaplewski) Kauphusman.
James was united in marriage with Mary B. Millmann on Sept. 3, 1955, in Winona.
He was employed as a carpenter for Keller Construction, and in his spare time he loved to golf.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, where he served as an usher for many years, as well as a trustee. He was a 50-year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post No. 9, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 1243.
James served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Winona; four children, James V. (Linda) Kauphusman of Champlin, Minn., Kathy (Matthew) Wendell of Arlington Heights, Ill., Lynn (Kevin) O'Brien of Wauwatosa, Wis., and Steven (Peggy Walters) Kauphusman of Rollingstone, Minn; 10 grandchildren, Casey, Kristen, Kylie, Jacob, Abby, Madeline, Catherine, Erin, Jeffrey and Molly; three brothers:
Raymond Kauphusman, Edward (Shirley) Kauphusman and John Kauphusman, all of Winona; and a brother-in-law, Vincent Millmann of Winona. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leonard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church with preliminary services at 10:15 a.m. at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. The Rev. Thomas J. Hargesheimer will officiate.
The American Legion will provide full military honors at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church immediately following the Mass.
Friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday may call at Watkowski-Pronschinske Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be his two sons-in-law, Kevin O'Brien and Matthew Wendell, and his grandchildren, Casey Kauphusman, Kristen Kauphusman, Kylie Wendell, Molly Walters, Jeffrey Walters and Jacob Wendell.
